What is AI Manga Translate

AI Manga Translate is an AI-powered manga translation tool that quickly converts manga, comics, and webtoons into 50+ languages while preserving original layout, reading direction, and character voice. It combines offline and cloud language models with smart OCR and typesetting, so speech bubbles, sound effects, and page structure remain visually faithful to the original work.

How to use AI Manga Translate

  1. Open AI Manga Translate
Visit the AI Manga Translate website and sign in to your account. New users can start by exploring the main uploader on the homepage.

  2. Upload your files
Click the upload area or drag and drop your files directly into it.

    • Supported images: JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP (each ≤ 5 MB)
    • Supported documents: PDF, EPUB, CBZ (up to 200 MB per document, or your plan’s limit)
You can upload single pages, multiple images, or an entire PDF volume at once.
  3. Check thumbnails and page order
After upload, page thumbnails will appear under the uploader. Confirm the pages are complete and in the correct reading order before starting translation.

  4. Choose your target language
Use the “Translation language” dropdown to select your desired language (e.g., English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, major European and Southeast Asian languages, and more).

  5. Select a language model
Keep “Offline (auto-select)” for a quick, balanced default, or manually choose from available models such as Sugoi, NLLB, M2M100, mBART, Qwen, ChatGPT, DeepSeek, or Gemini. Different models can perform better on different language pairs and styles.

  6. Adjust OCR and layout options (optional)
If you need finer control, switch OCR modes (e.g., mOCR / 48px) to better detect text in bubbles and sound effects.
    You can also control layout:

    • Text layout / direction: Auto, Horizontal (LTR), or Vertical
    • Text border: Add border or None, depending on the visual style you prefer
  7. Review cost per page and credits
Check the “Cost per page” indicator and your selected units. Make sure you have enough credits available, and, if needed, purchase more credits before starting the batch.

  8. Start translation
Click the Translate button. The system will queue your pages and process them with GPU-accelerated inference. You’ll see status labels such as Uploading, Uploaded, In Queue, Translating, and Completed for each page.

  9. Monitor progress
Watch the real-time status indicators to understand which pages are currently in progress, which are done, and if any errors occurred. Errors can be retried after adjusting settings if necessary.

  10. Review translation results
Once completed, click any thumbnail card to open the viewer. Zoom in to inspect speech bubbles, character names, honorifics, jokes, and onomatopoeia, confirming that the tone and context feel accurate.

  11. Download your translated pages
From the viewer, download the translated images or use the provided options to obtain merged PDFs where supported. Per-page dimensions and reading order will be preserved for full-volume manga reading.

  12. Iterate with different settings (optional)
If some pages are not ideal, rerun them with another language model, switch OCR, or change text direction. Compare outputs and keep the version that best matches your reading preferences.

AI Manga Translate's use case

  • Reading imported manga in your native language: Turn Japanese, Korean, or Chinese manga into clear, readable pages in your preferred language while preserving the original layout and tone.
  • Translating full manga volumes and long PDFs: Drag entire PDF volumes or CBZ files into AI Manga Translate to process all pages in parallel, then download a complete, merged result.
  • Localizing webtoons and digital comics: Apply AI Manga Translate to vertically scrolling webtoons or horizontally structured comics, automatically detecting layout to maintain readability.
  • Checking context and character voice in fan translations: Compare outputs from different language models to cross-check nuances like honorifics, catchphrases, and recurring jokes.
  • Supporting multilingual manga communities: Create translated versions for community reading groups or internal review workflows where multiple languages are required.
  • Internal publishing and QA workflows: Use the API and async endpoints to integrate manga translation into editorial pipelines, pre-release testing, or localization QA.

Benefits of AI Manga Translate

  • Context-aware translations that respect tone and character voice: AI Manga Translate combines LLMs and specialized models to preserve relationships, running gags, and subtle emotional cues rather than producing overly literal, robotic text.
  • High visual fidelity with smart typesetting: Automatic detection of vertical and horizontal text, bubble areas, font size, and line spacing keeps the translated page close to the original artwork and layout.
  • Support for 50+ languages and multiple models: A rich model lineup—offline engines plus cloud LLMs like Sugoi, NLLB, M2M100, Qwen, ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Gemini—helps you match language pairs, genres, and stylistic needs.
  • Full-volume, parallel PDF and image processing: Whole PDFs and large batches of pages are processed in parallel, with page dimensions and reading order preserved, significantly reducing manual work for long series.
  • Fast, GPU-accelerated performance: CUDA and float16 inference with warmed workers reduce latency and cost for ongoing translation batches, improving turnaround for frequent users.
  • Clear progress tracking and reliability: Status badges (queue, in-progress, done), error logs, and retry mechanisms make it easy to understand what is happening and resolve occasional failures quickly.
  • Developer-friendly integration options: Async run-and-status APIs, batch concurrency support, and rich parameters allow teams to plug AI Manga Translate into web apps, tools, and backend services.
  • Flexible privacy and deployment choices: Short-lived processing with temporary result storage protects user data by default, while an optional fully offline path supports intranet or private deployments with stricter compliance needs.
